Glow expands to full-service lifestyle boutique | News

Glow Boutique & More has been in business in Milledgeville for 16 years and its recent expansion to include a full-service lifestyle boutique is just another way owners hope to serve the community.

Christa Abbott Phillips, who owns the businesses with her husband, Eric, said a boutique has been in businesses inside Glow Salon for several years now, but the way it has grown brought about a need for more room.

“It just grew, and when that building became available next door, we just saw that it was a good opportunity,” Phillips said. “We had outgrown our space, and we were hiring more people, so it just kind of was a God thing that we needed the space and then right next door became available, so we decided we would separate the salon and the boutique.”

Glow Boutique and More is a full-service lifestyle boutique offering a diverse selection of gifts and apparel.

“We’re a one-stop shop whether you need a gift for somebody or if you’re shopping for the season’s newest trends,” Phillips said. “We have everything from jewelry to shoes and pocketbooks.”

She said the store also has gifts for men, children and babies.

The boutique opened in its new space on March 12, and Phillips said the community support has been wonderful.

“We’ve had a great first few months and look forward to many, many more years. … Our customer base has been very committed to us the last 16 years. They’ve watched our businesses grow, and they feel like they’re definitely a part of it, and they are. They’ve just been excited that we’re able to bring more to them because we were limited when it was under one roof. We didn’t have as much square footage as we needed.”

Glow is a full-service salon offering hairstyling, waxing, eye lash extensions, spray tans, microblading, makeup, skin care and more. There are 10 full-time stylists, and the salon itself employs 20 people. Phillips said the salon is always hiring and looking for stylists who want to grow their business.

Whether behind the chair as a hairdresser or serving people in the boutique, Phillips said she just enjoys working in a profession where her goal each day is to make people feel better about themselves.

“We live in a very crazy world right now, and we just try to be happy and positive,” she said. “We just like to be that safe place that no matter what your economic status is or who you are, we treat everybody the same, and we want everybody to feel welcome and feel better about themselves when they leave. That truly is what Glow Salon and Glow Boutique represents to me.”
