2 men strike employee, steal merchandise from East Side jewelry store, Madison police say | Crime







Two men struck an employee and stole merchandise from an East Side jewelry store on Tuesday afternoon, Madison police reported.

Officers sent to the store in the 2100 block of Atwood Avenue around 1:40 p.m. Tuesday were told by a worker that two masked men entered the store and after a brief altercation struck one of the employees, then fled with a countertop jewelry display case containing jewelry, Lt. David Meinert said in a statement.

The worker said the thieves fled in a silver sedan with heavily tinted windows and no plates, Meinert said.
